Events & News

Please join us on Tuesday February 26, 2019 (4:00PM-6:00PM, Atwood 360)

  • We are holding a relaunch event that will showcase research on sexuality from students and faculty across Emory University (Public Health, Law, WGSS, Comparative Literature) as well as information about resources and collections on sexuality held at the Emory University Libraries.  In addition, we will be presenting prizes for the best undergraduate and graduate essay prize.  We will also be calling for nominations from faculty, staff and students to serve on the newly formed Studies in Sexualities Advisory Board.

Studies in Sexualities is an interdisciplinary program that takes as axiomatic that sexuality always is inflected with and shaped by its intersections with categories of race, class, and gender, as well as geography and history. It depends upon feminist analysis as well as the contributions of lesbian, gay, and transgender studies and queer theory.

Faculty affiliated with Studies in Sexualities offer expertise in a range of humanistic and social scientific disciplines. The Department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies offer an introductory undergraduate course in Studies in Sexualities, as well as undergraduate and graduate seminars in Queer Theory. These are supplemented with a variety of course offerings from a number of departments that vary from semester to semester.
